Long‑established chartered accounting firm in Western Sydney is looking for an intermediate accountant to join its growing business services team. This role suits someone who wants strong client exposure, CA/CPA support and clear long‑term career progression.
This is a proactive chartered accounting and advisory practice with office in Parramatta, servicing a diverse mix of SME, family‑group and private clients. They offer a broad range of services including business services, tax, compliance, audit and financial planning, with a strong focus on long‑term client relationships and mentoring their people.
Due to sustained growth, the firm is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join the Business Services team, with the option to be based in either the Parramatta or Penrith office. You'll work closely with senior accountants and managers on a portfolio of SME and family‑group clients, gaining exposure to both compliance and value‑add advisory work.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships.
- Prepare financial statements and management accounts for SME and family‑group clients.
- Assist with BAS, IAS, FBT and other compliance obligations.
- Complete year‑end and periodic reconciliations, workpapers and supporting schedules.
- Assist with basic tax planning, structuring and advisory tasks under guidance of seniors/managers.
- Liaise with clients by phone and email to obtain information and resolve queries.
- Use modern accounting and tax software packages, ensuring files are accurate and up to date.
- Contribute to a positive team culture, sharing knowledge and supporting junior staff where appropriate.
- Degree qualified in Accounting or related discipline (or close to completion).
- Studying towards or keen to commence CA/CPA, with full study support available.
- Around 2-4 years' experience in public practice (business services/tax) in Australia.
- Solid understanding of Australian tax and compliance requirements for SME clients.
- Confident preparing tax returns and financial statements with limited supervision.
- Strong attention to detail, time management and willingness to learn.
- Clear, professional communication skills and a client‑service mindset.
- Intermediate‑level role with clear pathways to Senior Accountant and beyond in a growing Western Sydney firm.
