Commercial Underwriter / Senior Commercial Underwriter
My client is hiring an experienced Commercial Underwriter or Senior Commercial Underwriter to join their Sydney team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an insurance professional to step into a role offering autonomy, variety, and genuine career progression.
You’ll underwrite multiline business across a diverse mid-market portfolio, gaining exposure to multiple product areas and broadening your expertise. The role combines technical underwriting with relationship building, including regular broker and client visits across the Northern Region.
Key Responsibilities
- Grow and maintain a profitable, sustainable portfolio within the allocated State.
- Underwrite schemes and medium to large policies, including new business.
- Deliver professional and efficient service to brokers, distribution partners, and internal colleagues.
- Support the regional manager and wider team in maximising portfolio profitability.
- Ensure risk and compliance practices are aligned within the portfolio.
- Contribute to a collaborative and learning-focused workplace.
- Multi-line property and casualty experience (or a strong desire to develop these skills – training provided).
- Strong broker relationship management skills.
- At least 5 years’ experience in commercial lines underwriting and business development.
- ANZIIF Associate qualification (completed or in progress) or relevant tertiary qualifications.
