My client is a leading global commercial insurer hiring a Senior Financial Lines Underwriter to join a high‑performing team underwriting across commercial and financial institutions portfolios. This role offers strong exposure to portfolio growth, broker engagement and the ongoing development of Financial Lines capability within a well‑established platform.
This position will suit an experienced underwriter who enjoys autonomy, relationship‑driven underwriting and contributing to both profitability and strategic direction .
The Opportunity You will underwrite new and renewal Financial Lines business (D&O, EPL, Crime) across a diverse corporate and institutional portfolio, with a strong focus on disciplined risk selection, broker relationship management and sustainable growth. The role also includes a mentoring component, supporting the development of junior underwriters.
Key Responsibilities Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Underwriting new and renewal Financial Lines business in line with underwriting guidelines, delegated authority and agreed risk appetite
- Managing and growing broker relationships to maximise portfolio value and market visibility
- Developing a pipeline of new business while maintaining existing accounts
- Identifying target accounts and monitoring performance against budget using underwriting and pipeline reports
- Maintaining accurate underwriting files, registers and records to support reporting and timely policy issuance
- Supporting the execution of business plans aligned with Financial Lines strategy
- Assisting with the training and mentoring of junior underwriters, including development of product knowledge and authority levels
- Strong underwriting knowledge across D&O, EPL and Crime insurance
- A solid understanding of key business drivers within the Financial Lines market
- Proven experience underwriting Financial Lines products within a commercial environment
- A client‑focused approach with the ability to build and maintain strong broker relationships
- Prior experience in a commercial insurance, financial or legal setting, with exposure to clients and/or intermediaries
- Awareness of market developments and trends impacting the commercial and financial lines sector
- Experience mentoring or supporting the development of less experienced underwriters (highly regarded)
