Seeking a highly skilled General Counsel to ensure regulatory compliance, manage legal risks, and provide strategic legal guidance that aligns with business objectives. Your expertise will be key in drafting and reviewing insurance policy wordings, managing binders, and overseeing Lloyd’s reporting and compliance.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and industry standards, managing breach reports and driving continuous improvement.
- Regulatory Reporting: Oversee and ensure timely, accurate submissions to ASIC, AFCA, and Lloyd’s.
- Policy Development: Draft, review, and update insurance policy wordings to maintain compliance and clarity.
- Legal Advisory: Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on business initiatives.
- Board Governance & CoSec: Manage board governance processes and company secretarial duties.
- Binder Management: Oversee binder governance, ensuring compliance with insurer and company requirements.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks within company operations.
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, focusing on IT agreements.
- Training: Conduct legal and compliance training for staff.
- Dispute Resolution: Handle complaints and manage Internal Dispute Resolution processes.
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree.
- Admission to practice law in Australia.
- Minimum of 7 years of legal experience within the insurance industry.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian financial services regulations and Lloyd’s requirements.
- Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
