Job description

My client is an Underwriting Agency and is currently seeking an Underwriter to join their dynamic team. You will play a crucial role in assessing and underwriting insurance risks while building and maintaining strong relationships with their clients and broker partners. They are seeking a candidate with at least 3 years of experience in general insurance, ideally with a background in underwriting, claims, or broking.
  
Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate insurance applications and submissions to determine risk acceptability and pricing adequacy.
  • Apply underwriting guidelines and company policies to make informed decisions on policy issuance, renewal, and endorsements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on insurance matters.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to adapt underwriting strategies accordingly.
  • Monitor and manage an assigned portfolio of accounts to ensure profitability and retention goals are met.
  • Collaborate with brokers to negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing to secure and retain business.
  • Maintain accurate and organized underwriting files and documentation, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure underwriting decisions align with company underwriting standards and guidelines.
  • Identify and recommend risk mitigation strategies for complex accounts.
  • Provide feedback to product development teams to enhance and create insurance products that meet market demands.
  
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in general insurance, with a background in Underwriting, Claims, or Broking.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in industry-specific software and underwriting tools.
